Leave the World Behind
Movies as Good Books | Visual Elements
This project was inspired by Matt Stevens’ series Good Movies as Old Books, which challenges creators to design a book cover based on a film they’ve seen. I chose Leave the World Behind. While the movie is originally based on a novel, my design takes no inspiration from the original book. Instead, I created a new cover that highlights three key scenes from the film, all layered with a World War II-era newspaper texture—symbolic of the film’s deeper themes. The title spells out “Evil Eye,” alluding to the unsettling idea that someone is always watching, much like the government presence hinted at in the story.
