Black Soil: The Allen Family Farm
Cover design | Visual Identity
Black Soil: The Allen Family Farm is a visual project created for my father’s upcoming book. It tells the story of the Allen family and their powerful journey as Black rural farmers, navigating the challenges and triumphs of their time. The narrative centers around the family’s experience after receiving a loan for 40 acres and a mule, and how all 11 members worked together to not only repay the loan but also expand their land significantly. Despite facing many obstacles, the Allens ultimately persevered.
As part of the project, I designed a full set of deliverables tailored for the book, including the cover design, a promotional poster, a social media post, and additional assets specific to book marketing. The work was created using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
